Ronnie Frank Davenport

July 30, 2021 - Leave a Condolence

In Memorial

Ronnie Frank Davenport, 76, a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home in Jones, OK on July 28, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones. Ronnie was born on October 31, 1944 in Houston, Texas to Frank and Mildred Davenport. A patriot of his country, Ronnie was a member of the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home and joining the Houston Police Department, he continued to put his life on the line as an undercover operative and later as a member and leader of the SWAT team. Upon retiring from public service, Ronnie enjoyed a long career as an engineering lead for a prominent multinational telecommunications and data networking company.

A Texan at heart, Ronnie was a force both fierce and kind. On August 9, 1980, he married Tammy Sue Hemminger. After several years as gypsies, they made their permanent home in Oklahoma. Ronnie was known for his loyalty to his wife and children. As recognized by his sister-in-law Tawnya “Ronnie gave his brains and brilliance to his son Brandon, his grit and stubbornness to his daughter Ciara, and his entire heart and soul to Tammy.” Ronnie was an active member of his community, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for those he loved and cared about. Over the years, together with Tammy, they opened their home to numerous exchange students from all over the world. He enjoyed his retirement one day at a time in his garage, where one would find him working on his motorcycle surrounded by photographs of his children and a sign that read: “I love you, Tammy.” On any given Saturday, he could be found having breakfast at any of the local diners with someone he adored, or riding his motorcycle with his son Brandon and son-in-law, John Peeler. Ronnie will be remembered for his love of his wife, his family, his country, and his love of God.

Ronnie is survived by his wife Tammy and their children Brandon (Aspen Davenport), Alex, and Ciara (John Peeler); his son Rusty; his grandchildren; Lexi, Madison, Abbigelle, Xander and Xara; and numerous friends and adopted family all around the world.

Services will be held:Saturday August 7th at 10 o’clock in the morning
